lets get spooky: last minute halloween costumes

Hallo-Weekend - one of the best weekends when you're in college. Dressing up with your friends in obnoxious costumes and eating tons of candy! Now who wouldn't love that?

But there is one thing that comes with college; stress and procrastination. The whole week you have been on the ball getting all of your homework done so you don't have to stress about it over the weekend. When all of a sudden Friday rolls around and the most talked about Halloween party is in less that 5 hours, and shocker you procrastinated thinking/making your Halloween costume!

We have all been there! I put together some costume ideas that will make it look like you thought about this moment all semester!

1) Your favorite fruit! This has been a trend over the past couple years is dressing up as a strawberry, pineapple, watermelon and a kiwi.

What you need:

  • Bright color oversized t-shirt with the color fruit you are
  • Black felt
  • Colored construction paper to match your stem
  • Fabric glue or safety pins
Directions:
  1. Lay out your t-shirt on a flat surface
  2. Cut out "seeds" from your black felt. As many as you'd like to fill up your shirt
  3. Arrange the seeds how you want them on your shirt
  4. Once they are all arranged how you want them, take some fabric glue and glue them to the shirt. Depending on how last minute this costume is, you can always take safety pins and pin the seeds on like that.
  5. Take your construction paper and fold it, glue it to look like a stem

2) Red Solo Cups. In college these are the essential, so why not be the essential for the party?

What you need:

  • Red oversized T-shirt or crewneck sweatshirt
  • White felt
  • Fabric glue or safety pins
Directions:
  1. Lay out the red shirt of choice
  2. Cut out a S, O, L, O out if the white felt
  3. Arrange the letters how you want them on the shirt, you can do this however you want
  4. Take the fabric glue and glue on the letters, or pin them with safety pins
  5. Optional: Take white felt and use it to make a rim like how it is on an actual Solo Cup
3) Frat Boy. Probably one of the cheapest costumes because you don't need to buy anything if you don't want to!

What you need:
  • Any color or pattern button up shirt. I prefer something oversized so you can wear it like a dress. If you don't have a button up, ask some guy friends if you can borrow one of theirs! They are bound to have one.
  • Hat of some sort. If you want to go for the ultimate frat boy. Try and find a Polo hat, Vineyard Vines, Patagonia. But it is not essential
  • Half-calf socks
  • Sperrys,Vans, Converse, or a sneaker of some sort
  • Sunglasses
  • Fraternity letters
  • Foam board
  • Marker
  • String
Directions:
  1. Put all of the clothing pieces on
  2. Cut the foam board into a large square and poke a hole in the top two corners of the foam
  3. Measure out how long you want the string to be. It has to be long enough to go around your neck so the sign can lay around your chest/stomach area
  4. Use the string and tie it into the holes so you have a sign
  5. Search online a Fraternity of choice, then use the marker to draw the letters on the foam board
  6. Put the completed sign around your neck and you are ready to be a bro for the night
4) Tourist - because who would love to pretend they were a nerdy dad on vacation!

What you need:
  • Hawaiian shirt
  • Kaki pants
  • Some kind of dad sandals or sneakers
  • Bucket hat
  • Fanny pack
  • Camera
Directions:
  1. All you need to do is put all of this stuff on and act like your embarrassing dad on vacation!
5) Sports Player

What you need:
  • Jersey of some sort
  • Sneakers
  • Half Calf socks
  • Bandana or hat
  • Black lipstick
Directions:
  1. Throw all these clothing pieces on
  2. Draw black lines under your eyes to act as eyeblack
  3. Put your hair back in a bandana to make it look like a headband, or a hat
I hope all of these Halloween costumes have helped your procrastination tendencies. The ultimate goal is to be creative! The more creative you are with the different things you are working with, your costume is going to be even better! Please comment what your favorite Halloween costume is and what you are dressing up as this year. Also, make sure you check my social media pages to see what I chose to be this halloween!
